On Jan. 10, 2013, Amazon (AMZN -1.65%) announced Amazon AutoRip -- a service that gives away MP3 versions of CDs purchased from Amazon. Not only will customers receive a hard CD copy, but will also instantly and automatically receive the MP3 versions in their Amazon Cloud Player library.

Past customers also benefit. Anyone who has purchased a CD since Amazon first opened its Music Store in 1998 will find MP3 versions in their Cloud Player – automatically and for free. By doing so, Amazon hopes to save customers the hassle of ripping their own CDs.

Customers can access Amazon's Cloud Player from anywhere -- through Kindle Fire, Kindle apps, or any web browser. All AutoRip songs are provided in high-quality 256Kbps MP3 audio, and will not count against a customer's Cloud Player storage limit.

Amazon AutoRip includes more than 50,000 albums, including titles from every major record label. As time goes on, Amazon will continue to expand its AutoRip selection. Customers can buy AutoRip products by simply looking for the logo.
