The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a spectacle in every sense of the word. More than 150,000 tech enthusiasts descend on Las Vegas to see the latest in gadgetry, almost none of it related to the personal computers that dominated the last decade.

Investors are already feeling the impact. Last week, Intel (INTC -1.79%) said revenue from the PC client business declined 6% year over year. Laptop and desktop computing chips continue to account for more than 60% of the company's sales.
