Citing the rapidly changing way consumers research and shop for pet products, PetSmart (NASDAQ: PETM ) has worked with eBay's (NASDAQ: EBAY ) GSI Commerce since 2007 and will continue to do so for three more years.
Under the renewed deal, GSI Commerce will continue to help PetSmart build on its omnichannel strategy -- across its Web store, fulfillment, and customer service channels. Already, GSI Commerce supports PetSmart's Kentucky distribution center and U.S.-based call centers. GSI customer service representatives are trained by PetSmart and work closely with PetSmart's Phoenix-based Customer Care team.
Of the deal, PetSmart President and COO David Lenhardt said: "Technology is rapidly changing the way the consumer researches and shops, especially when it comes to caring for their pets. Through our strategic partnership with GSI Commerce, we are building the capabilities to allow our customers to shop anywhere, any way and any time they choose."
Across the U.S. and Canada, PetSmart operates more than 1,250 stores.
