Ford (NYSE: F ) CEO Alan Mulally is widely credited with turning the automaker around. Detroit News journalist Bryce Hoffman writes about that turnaround in the bestseller, American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company. The Motley Fool recently asked Hoffman what his biggest question about Ford was.
Ford has been performing incredibly well as a company over the past few years -- it's making good vehicles, is consistently profitable, recently reinstated its dividend, and has done a remarkable job paying down its debt. But Ford's stock seems stuck in neutral. Does this create an incredible buying opportunity, or are there hidden risks with the stock that investors need to know about? To answer that, one of our top equity analysts has compiled a premium research report with in-depth analysis on whether Ford is a buy right now, and why. Ford needs to stick to making high quality, fuel efficient cars and only that. Venturing into other market areas in this economic time will not result in the yield necessary to keep the government away from their door.
They survived because they, alone, stood up and said no to the government intrusion into their business. Ford made the cuts where they were needed and should continue to follow that lead.
We are headed for a larger downturn than in 08, it's just a matter of time. The Federal Reserve has manipulated the market and given everyone an artificial portfolio that is not evident in the real world. Dangerous roads lay ahead for the American people and now is not the time for Ford to do something foolish.
