Brigus Gold (NYSEMKT: BRD) is churning out more of its signature precious metal. The company announced that it posted a record production level of 26,316 ounces in its fiscal Q1 2013. This was significantly higher than the 16,922 ounces it produced in the same period of 2012. It also exceeded Q4's figure of 22,672 ounces.

Most of Brigus' key metrics were up on a year-over-year basis during the quarter. Metric tons milled came in at 183,819, against Q1 2012's 180,965. Gold sold amounted to 27,818 ounces, much higher than the year-ago result of 16,033.

The gold price slipped over that time frame, however, to $1,626 per ounce in the quarter. For Q1 2012, that number was $1,687.

Brigus is slated to release a full set of Q1 financials on May 14.
