Intel (INTC 0.64%) today announced advancements to its current Thunderbolt technology at the National Association of Broadcasters' show in Las Vegas.

There, the company launched the DSL4510/4410 Thunderbolt controllers, which improve power management, reduce costs, and are compatible with previous Display Port technology. Intel also gave a sneak peek at an advanced version of its Thunderbolt technology. It said that the next generation of Thunderbolt can transfer data at 20Gbs and will allow a 4K video to be transfered and displayed at the same time. Thunderbolt is currently the fastest way to transfer computer data, according to Intel.

Production will begin before the end of this year and will increase in 2014.
