iPhone and Android smartphone customers using Vonage's (VG) mobile high-definition communications app can now make free video calls over 3G,4Gand Wi-Fi networks worldwide so long as the call recipient is also using the app, Vonage announced today. Certain data rates may apply.

Vonage users have the ability to call and text and share photos, voice notes, and locations with other Vonage Mobile users for free, worldwide, and now they can make video calls, too.

"With the addition of video calling, we've combined the most popular communications features into one app, giving Vonage Mobile users the ability to connect face-to-face with their family and friends anywhere in the world," Vonage's VP of product management for mobile services, Grady Leno, is quoted as saying.

Users of the new service can "seamlessly" switch camera views from front to back without disrupting the call and can go from voice-only calling to video calling during a single call.

Vonage is a leading provider of voice of Internet protocol communications services with approximately 2.4 million subscribers.
