Intel (INTC 1.77%) has plans to collaborate with SoftKinetic, a software company that focuses on 3-D gesture recognition.

Through the terms of the agreement that SoftKinetic announced today, Intel will license SoftKinetic's iisu, a close-range gesture-tracking program, for inclusion within Intel's Perceptual Computing software development kit.

Through the deal, Intel hopes to sharpen its 3-D clarity capabilities on many different platforms, including tablets, all-in-one PCs, and notebooks. This move will help diversify Intel's product line, and Mark Yahiro, Intel's managing director of new business for Perceptual Computing, is bullish on what SoftKinetic will bring to the table.

"SoftKinetic is a leader in the field of 3D gesture recognition who is helping make our vision of natural, interactive user experiences a reality," Yahiro said. "We are excited to enable new experiences using 3D gestures in combination with voice, augmented reality, and other perceptual capabilities."
