Barnes & Noble (BKS) today launched a new bimonthly program for Nook customers to buy inexpensive, original, commissioned short-content, called Nook Snaps.
According to the company's press release, the content for Snaps is "high-quality short fiction and narrative non-fiction hand-picked by NOOK editors offering fresh perspectives on modern life, all in an easy-to-enjoy length and at an attractive price." The program will offer Nook customers the chance to buy three to five Nook Snaps works (of at least 5,000 words) for $1.99 each, every other month.
For the Nook Snaps debut, Barnes & Noble will offer the following works:
- High-Status Characters: How The Upright Citizens Brigade Stormed a City, Started a Scene, and Changed Comedy Forever, by Brian Raftery
- How to be a Playgirl, by Jessanne Collins
- Willing to be Lucky, by Mickey Rapkin
- The Insurrectionist, by Michael Dahlie
Theresa Horner, Vice President of Digital Content at Nook Media, said in the release, "We believe our collection of bite-sized NOOK Snaps, refreshed bimonthly and offered at a great price, provides a wonderful new way for our readers to connect with some of today's most compelling voices."
