BlackBerry Is No Apple

Things may not be all that rosy for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL  ) these days, but at least it knows that it can count on its growing loyal audience to show up for new product introductions.

In this video, longtime Fool contributor Rick Munarriz explores the real problem with BlackBerry's (NASDAQ: BBRY  ) 2.7 million Z10 and Q10 devices sold during their debut quarter by comparing the 3% adoption rate to Apple's better-than-10% adoption rate when the iPhone 5 came out. There seemed like a flattering nugget out of BlackBerry from its previous conference call in March, but in the context of last week's carnage, it's not pretty.

The thinking investor's mobile play

Fortunately, The Motley Fool has released a free report on mobile named "The Next Trillion-Dollar Revolution" that tells you how. Your analysis is shallow and skewed in favor of Apple. The BlackBerry Z10 has only been available in the US for 3 months and the Q10 for a few weeks. Sales will accelerate. Z10 purchasers in the US have declared it superior to the IPhone 5 and the Q10 has no rival that's even close.

@Bart36, what makes purchasers of Z10 a good judge of superiority? Everyone wants to feel good about their purchase and owners' opinion is, thus, a pretty biased.

How to define "best" anyway? For some it is raw hardware specs. For others it is the ability to run specific apps. Yet others think the most important thing is the availability of add-ons. For some it is the simplicity of the user interface. Some think quality is most important.......while the Z10 is likely tops in some of these areas, it is not in others.

In my personal opinions, availability of apps, quality, and integration with other Apple devices and accessories are most important. Obviously the IPhone 5 is much better than any BB offering using those criteria...

LOL, I always see bbry die-hard fans defending bbry phone in an insane way.

It is so simple that BBRY platform just does not have the ecosystem to compete.

    A very simple example:

my current company(100,000+ employees)'s VPN can easily be installed on ihpone/ipad, and not so easily to be installed on Andriod, but there is absolutely no way to run on BB10.

How do you suppose our employee to buy a BB10 instead of iphone?

I guess some people even do not know what VPN is and how critical it is for many employees.

@goog2013, I don't believe for one minute that your company's VPN can't be installed and made secure on BB 10 or even Android. iOS is known to be a very restrictive operating system. Maybe your company wants all staff to have an iPhone and no other device which is too bad.
