Is Ultra HD TV Ready for Prime Time?

Ultra HD TV is a huge buzz phrase in the consumer electronics world these days. But because of sparse content and the size of screen required to even discern the extra resolution, some analysts say it's still too early for investors to be jumping in.

Then there's the cost: Sony (NYSE: SNE  ) is pricing an 84-inch set at more than $20,000. However, Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic are offering models in the 55- to 65-inch range for well less than $10,000 -- some even in the $5,000 range.

Our roving reporter Rex Moore attended the Ultra HD conference at CE Week in New York City. In this video, he chats with Shawn DuBravac, chief economist for the Consumer Electronics Association, about the timetable for Ultra HD's mass adoption.
