Coal and iron ore producers have underperformed compared to the market over the past year. Despite being two of the biggest players from either industry, Peabody Energy (BTU) and Cliffs Natural Resources (CLF -0.49%) have lagged the S&P 500 over the past year by 54% and 85%, respectively.
