Amazon.com (AMZN -1.64%) announced today that it will add more than 5,000 U.S. jobs to its fulfillment network, with hiring starting today. The company said the jobs will include competitive pay, 401(k), health care, stock awards, and bonuses, with benefits starting on the first day of work.

The company is also hiring for more than 2,000 additional jobs in its customer service network.

Amazon said that over the past few years it has already created "thousands" of fulfillment and customer service jobs, and that its  median fulfillment pay is 30% higher than jobs in traditional retail stores. In the past year, Amazon has opened eight fulfillment centers in the U.S. It employs more than 20,000 full-time employees in U.S. fulfillment centers.

The new jobs are available in:

  • Breinigsville, Pa.
  • Chattanooga, Tenn.
  • Charleston, S.C.
  • Chester, Va.
  • Coppell, Texas
  • Haslet, Texas
  • Hebron, Ky.
  • Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Jeffersonville, Ind.
  • Middletown, Del.
  • Murfreesboro, Tenn.
  • Patterson, Calif.
  • Phoenix, Ariz.
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • San Bernardino, Calif.
  • Spartanburg, S.C.
  • Tracy, Calif.
In addition to the more than 5,000 new fulfillment center jobs, the company said it's also in the middle of hiring 2,000 customer service workers, which include full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions. Those jobs are available in  Grand Forks, N.D., Kennewick, Wash., Huntington, W.V., and Winchester, Ky.
