Though Zipcar has been in the San Diego market for several years, serving primarily local university students, the Avis Budget Group (CAR 0.10%) subsidiary today announced it has expanded its services throughout downtown and several key business regions.

With its recent expansion in San Diego, Zipcar now has nearly 50 vehicles available for use throughout the city. Zipcars can be reserved either hourly or daily beginning at $9 an hour, and $73 per day, which includes gas, insurance, parking, and roadside assistance, according to Zipcar.

Zipcar also announced today that it will begin offering customers seven cars in Denver that are "conveniently parked in curbside spots in the downtown area," in addition to cars parked at the Denver airport and several private lots and garages around the city.

Jose Cornejo, Denver's manager of public works, was quoted in the company press release as praising Zipcar's "incredibly convenient, environmentally responsible method of transportation."
