Apple (AAPL 1.66%) has reportedly begun hiring ex-Nuance (NUAN) engineers near Nuance's home turf in Boston. The most obvious possibility here is that Apple may be interested in ditching the voice-recognition specialist in favor of building its own speech-recognition engine.
