Software giant Microsoft  (NASDAQ: MSFT  ) has enjoyed healthy gains this year, in part due to optimism around activist investor ValueAct taking a decent stake and now trying to score a board seat. The PC market continues to struggle, and Microsoft has not made much progress with penetrating the tablet market with its Surface products, either.

    What Evan Niu and the interviewer are missing is that MSFT is a leader in the fast growing cloud computing market with their Azure cloud compute & storage services. They are gaining market share in that biz (Amazon is the leader) which is not reflected in their stock price or P/E multiple!
