The U.S. Department of Defense announced 20 new contract awards on Thursday worth a total of $796 million in combined value. The bulk of the contracts this time went to privately owned companies, but there were a few publicly traded contract recipients, including:
- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK), one of the bigger winners Thursday, won a firm-fixed-price, no option, non-multiyear contract with a maximum value of $84.8 million. ATK will be supplying the U.S. Army Contracting Command -- Rock Island Arsenal with Proximity Sensors and Sensor Dummies.
- General Dynamics' (GD 1.17%) Electric Boat Corp subsidiary was awarded a $12 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification to continue supplying onboard repair parts for use aboard Virginia-class nuclear attack submarines. This contract should continue in force through February 2017.
- Honeywell International (HON 1.66%) won a $6.6 million firm-fixed-price contract to supply the Defense Logistics Agency, Aviation division, with system analyzer test sets. Performance is due by Aug. 8, 2016.
- While multiple contract recipients -- including KEYW Corp (KEYW), Raytheon (RTN), SAIC, and BAE, will share an indefinite- delivery/indefinite-quantity contract worth up to $24.4 million. These four companies have "won" the right to bid against each other for task orders to perform R&D work for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory's Compact Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) and Sustainable Environment (CASE) programs. This contract will run through Aug. 15, 2020.
