For most regional banks, the business model is pretty simple. Make loans, accept deposits, and provide some add-on services to help clients manage their finances. This is true for regionals across the country, from BB&T (NYSE: BBT ) , to Keycorp (NYSE: KEY ) .
In this traditional model, revenue growth is primarily a function of two factors -- loan growth, and the margin banks yield on the loan portfolio.
