Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO ) is now sporting a sleeker, more streamlined look. The company has taken the wraps off its new logo, replacing the mark it had used since just after its founding, 18 years ago. The move is the culmination of the Internet firm's "30 days of change" initiative, in which its home and other key pages featured a fresh logo variation every day.
In a post on the company's Tumblr service, CEO Marissa Mayer said that the Yahoo! brand had been valued at as much as $10 billion; therefore, changing its appearance was "not something we could do lightly."
In addition to the a thinner font, the logo features an animated "!" that quickly settles into place after a user navigates to the company's home page. Yahoo! has kept the mark's signature purple color intact.
