In its latest update on AXON camera sales, TASER International (AXON -1.40%) reported Wednesday that it's booked several new orders for its newest product -- and the one that TASER CEO Rick Smith says "will become standard equipment [at police forces] within the next 5-10 years."
Headlining today's news, TASER says that the Topeka Police Department in Kansas has placed a "follow-on" order of 45 AXON flex units, on top of the 30 units the department has already deployed. Additionally, the company noted that agencies in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas are deploying the AXON flex "and/or EVIDENCE.com."
Also, TASER says that agencies in California, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, and South Carolina are deploying the similar AXON body on-officer cameras "and/or EVIDENCE.com." And in Kansas and North Carolina, the Johnson County Police Department and Winterville Police Department have both renewed their subscriptions to EVIDENCE.com.
The company did not disclose monetary values for any of these contracts, and pricing varies from department to department. However, various sources suggest that the price for TASER's AXON body product is often "under $300 per unit," while the unit price on the AXON flex may be approximately $1,130.
