The Department of Defense issued 25 new contracts on Monday worth a little more than $903 million combined. Several of these contracts benefited the U.S. Air Force in particular, including awards for:
- $39.3 million: allocated to the privately held ARCTEC Alaska Joint Venture to operate and maintain the Alaska Radar System, consisting of 15 remote radar sites, through Sept. 30, 2014.
- $19.9 million: going to Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A 1.18%) (BRK.B 1.30%) subsidiary FlightSafety Services Corp to exercise a seventh option year on a contract to support Aircrew Training Systems for the McDonnell Douglas KC-10 aerial refueling tanker. FlightSafety will be both supplying and supporting all KC-10 training devices used in the Air Force's Operation and Training System Support Center through Sept. 30, 2014.
- $12.4 million: for Crane's (CR) Electronics subsidiary, in the form of an indefinite-delivery, requirements, firm-fixed-price contract to perform repairs on ALQ-161A radio frequency surveillance/electronic countermeasure units used onboard B-1 bombers. This work should be complete by Sept. 11, 2018.
- and $11.7 million: as a contract modification for Jacobs Engineering (J 0.23%), funding "research operations support services" under the Experimental Liquid Rocket program through March 24, 2014.
