The Department of Defense announced 64 separate contract awards worth $3.51 billion Wednesday. Of these, defense contractor L-3 Communications (LLL) won four, specifically:

  • a $20.3 million contract to provide engineering and technical services for testing and developing a beta design of the Gemini III transmission for the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center.
  • an $11 million option exercise requiring L-3 to provide logistics support to the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Fla., and also NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, through September 2014.
  • an $8.8 million contract modification requiring L-3 to provide airborne threat simulation training for shipboard and aircraft squadron weapon systems operators and aircrew to enhance their skills at countering enemy electronic warfare in an electronic combat environment. This contract will run through December 2013.
  • an $8.3 million contract modification calling on L-3 to support T-39N/G Sabreliner trainer jets and associated equipment used in student naval flight officer training through March 2014.

Combined, these contracts add up to more than $48 million in incremental revenues for L-3.
