The Department of Defense issued $10.92 billion worth of new and amended defense contracts on Friday -- a mind-boggling 113 separate contract awards in all. Of these, defense contractor L-3 Communications (LLL) won four:

  • A new firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract worth up to $63.4 million to supply Advanced Extremely High Frequency COMSEC TRANSEC SYSTEM hardware to the U.S. Air Force, for use in sending and receiving both classified and unclassified military communications. This contract should be completed by Dec. 31, 2018.
  • A $55.6 million option exercise to perform aircraft maintenance and logistical life cycle support on 54 Beechcraft C-12 Huron transport aircraft for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps by September 2014. Six of these aircraft belong to the Marines, and the balance to the Navy.
  • A new $31.4 million non-multi-year, no-option, firm-fixed-price contract to supply FUM-153 A/B Point Detonating/Delay fuses to the U.S. Army.
  • A new $12.3 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract to supply Video Data Link systems, common data link waveform documentation, and waveform testing equipment to the U.S. Air Force, and to provide training in their use. This contract should be completed by Sept. 30, 2015.
