Another Reason to Believe This Marvel Movie Will Be a Winner

Each day seems to bring more signs that next summer's Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be a winner, says Fool contributor Tim Beyers in the following video.

Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso provided the latest clue in his column at Comic Book Resources. While Alonso insists Guardians will be a distinct Marvel movie, he also described writer Brian Michael Bendis' work on the comic book of the same name as "widescreen." A filmmaking term that fits nicely, Tim says, when you consider that Marvel is also in the middle of publishing a cosmic-themed miniseries titled Infinity that features the Guardians.

A coincidence? Doubtful, Tim says. Even if there isn't a direct tie-in with the movie, Marvel is spending time introducing (or reintroducing) its most loyal fans to these cosmic characters in hopes they'll not only buy the comics but also show up at the box office. Do you agree? Please watch the video to get Tim's full take, and then leave a comment to let us know where you stand.

    Absolutely. I'd expect nothing less.

Seriously, I mean that. I've eaten more than my share of humble piece in public, and gladly, because I think doing so makes TMF different from other services.

Thanks for being here and Foolish best,

Gee, just think, Tim: if/when "Guardians" becomes another success but is judged a failure (a la "Hulk") because it doesn't meet artificially inflated "expectations", you can claim a part of that. You remind me of an aunt who always started pumping up Christmas at the beginning of August. And here's the surprise: it never turned out to be as spectacular as she predicted.

And I'll be the first one to admit I was wrong if it doesn't.

Hey I liked John Carter so my expectations aren't so high that I can't be pleased..but we aren't talking about quality..we're talking about dollars and cents.

If it fails then it could damage future and far more deserving productions and I don't want that either.

So I think Marvel/Disney should be a little cautious considering they are losing their licensing rights on the mouse perhaps they should have went with a Defenders or a Midnight Sons movie instead.. always wanted a Werewolf by Night/Tomb of Dracula flick....just saying..lol
