Ameren (NYSE: AEE ) declared its quarterly dividend today, keeping distributions steady at $0.40 per share. The utility will dole out its dividend on December 31 to shareholders of record on December 11.

This latest announcement marks the ninth straight quarter of $0.40 distributions. Shareholders felt a squeeze in February 2010, when Ameren dropped its quarterly dividend from $0.635, to $0.385, but distributions have stayed relatively stable since then.
At current rates, Ameren's annual dividend yield clocks in at 4.6%, slightly above the industry average of 4.3%.
