Stepping out of the confines of the U.S. border, women's retailer Chico's FAS (CHS) announced today its White House Black Market brand will be going international and opening its first Canadian boutique on Oct. 24, with a second store opening on Nov. 12.

Chico's, through all of its brands, including White House Black Market, Soma Intimates, and Boston Proper, operates 1,427 stores in the United States.

Stating that its customer profiles already showed a large Canadian following, Chico's FAS President and CEO David Dyer said, "We believe Canada is a great first foray into the international arena for Chico's FAS, as it represents a natural extension of our brands."

White House Black Market began operations in 1985 and was acquired in 2003. It currently operates 416 boutiques and 52 outlets. Shares of Chico's FAS were up $0.22 per share to $16.44, or 1.4%, as the close of trading today.
