Amazon.com (AMZN -1.65%) is ramping up its presence with the establishment of a trio of new fulfillment centers. Two of the three are located in Florida; one is in Hillsborough County, and the other is in Lakeland. Each will be over 1 million square feet in size, and according to the retailer, they will employ more than 1,000 workers combined. The former facility will concentrate on the shipment of the company's smaller items, while workers at Lakeland will ship larger goods such as kayaks and televisions.

The Maryland site is located in Baltimore. Similar to its Florida siblings, it will be 1 million square feet in size, and alone it will necessitate more than 1,000 jobs. The facility will be a hub for the company's books, electronics, and consumer goods.
