The Department of Defense announced 14 new defense contracts, worth $1.38 billion in aggregate, Friday. Of these several contracts, defense contractor General Dynamics (GD 1.35%) won two, specifically:

  • A $28.9 million contract modification awarded to the company's Electric Boat division, which is to perform missile tube integrated tube and hull weldment fabrication, missile tube assembly fixture design and manufacture, and missile tube material procurement for submarines being built for both the U.S. Navy and the U.K. Royal Navy. Deliveries are due in November 2016.
  • An $11.4 million cost-plus-incentive-fee contract won by its General Dynamics NASSCO-Earl Industries unit, which has been tasked with performing maintenance and repair work on the U.S. Navy's landing platform/dock USS San Antonio. Work on the vessel is due for completion by May.
