The Department of Defense announced 24 new defense contracts Monday, with a combined value of $1.66 billion. Among the companies winning awards:
- BAE Systems (BAES.Y 1.23%) (LSE: BA) won a $48.9 million cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost reimbursable contract to design, integrate, test, install, and support shipboard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence electronic communication systems for ships of the U.S. Navy. Work under this contract should be complete by June 2019.
- Northrop Grumman (NOC -1.27%) won a $9.5 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to maintain E-2C and E-2D airborne early warning aircraft and C-2 cargo aircraft in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center's Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero through December 2014.
- Hornbeck Offshore Services (HOS) was awarded an $8 million option exercise whereby the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command is chartering its offshore supply vessel HOS Dominator for one additional year. The vessel's primary mission will be to provide submarine rescue diving and recompression system support to Commander, Submarine Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet through December 2014.
- Navistar (NAV) was awarded a $6.9 million contract modification procuring additional field service support work for the U.S. Army on its Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected MaxxPro vehicles both in the continental United States and overseas. This contract will now run through Dec. 31, 2014.
