Amazon.com (AMZN -1.04%) announced today that it has teamed up with CBS (PARA 2.27%) for an exclusive content arrangement for the CBS Television series Extant, which will star Oscar-, Emmy-, and Golden Globe-winning actress Halle Berry.

The agreement will make Amazon Prime Instant Video "the exclusive premium subscription home for Extant" and will also allow every episode of the series to be available to Amazon Prime members four days after the initial broadcast on CBS this summer.

The two companies had a similar deal last summer for CBS' show Under the Dome, which Amazon said was the most-watched summer scripted television series in 21 years and averaged more than 15 million viewers per episode. It was also the most-watched television season on Prime Instant Video.

"We received very positive feedback from Prime members about this summer's exclusive access to Under the Dome," Amazon Director of Content Acquisition for Digital Video Brad Beale said in a press release. "Customers loved being able to watch the show just days after it aired as well as catching up on previous episodes."

Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television will co-produce Extant with CBS, and Spielberg will serve as one of the executive producers of the show, which will premiere in June. Berry will serve as a co-executive producer. The show will be a "mystery thriller" featuring Berry as an astronaut who endeavors to reconnect with her family after spending a year in outer space.

"Our partnership with Amazon for Under the Dome helped build a creative, financial and marketing model for event television in the summer," CBS Chief Corporate Licensing Officer Scott Koondel added in the release. "We look forward to using the same model for Extant..."
