The Internet of Things may be the biggest investing opportunity we'll see in our lifetimes. If you're an investor watching the IoT trend, you need to keep an eye on Texas Instruments (TXN 0.13%).

The Internet of Things will affect a vast number of industries, and TI can have a product for virtually any of these "things." This includes IoT inside the automobile -- which is just a lot more fun to call the Internet of Cars.

I was able to meet with Texas Instruments at the huge International CES earlier this year in Las Vegas. Kent Novak, senior vice president of DLP Products at TI, walked me through several of his company's products.

In this video, I speak with Novak about what Texas Instruments is doing inside the automobile. A lot of TI's work here involves how to display the entertainment and navigation information that is growing by leaps and bounds with each new model year. In this video, you'll see an actual example of a "head-up display," which puts critical information right at the driver's eye level – floating just above the dashboard.

The best way to invest in the Internet of Things
Texas Instruments' efforts are just the beginning of the huge Internet of Things trend.
