Why We're Visiting Markel

On Monday's MarketFoolery, host Chris Hill and Motley Fool Germany analyst Matt Koppenheffer jump into Markel (NYSE: MKL  )  and the upcoming Foolish visit to the company's HQ.

This week, Matt, David Hanson, and a few other Fools will travel to Markel and sit down with Chief Investment Officer Tom Gayner. Matt says one of the things he'll focus on is Gayner's investing history at Markel -- over a decade's worth of wisdom. He'll also be asking about expansion opportunities for the company and what has changed for Gayner over his investing tenure, especially when looking at investing in banks.

Bank of America + Apple? This device makes it possible.
Apple
recently recruited a secret-development "dream team" to guarantee that its newest smart device was kept hidden from the public for as long as possible. But the secret is out, and some early viewers are even claiming that its everyday impact could trump the iPod, iPhone, and the iPad. In fact, ABI Research predicts that 485 million of these devices will be sold per year. But one small company makes this gadget possible. And its stock price has nearly unlimited room to run for early in-the-know investors. To be one of them, and to see Apple's newest smart gizmo, just click here!

I am excited to hear about TMF visiting Markel. I discovered the company a few months ago and it seems solid. Strong financials, a niche market, and a great management team is a winning formula.

The corporate governance appears very strong as well and the company is extremely shareholder-friendly. The letters, reports, and presentations to investors are straight forward and easy to understand.

    Look forward to the recap.
