Historically, tumultuous times offer some of the best opportunities to buy stocks, and the market's recent mess surely qualifies. And though big screen entertainment company IMAX (Nasdaq: IMAX) has already been booming during this recession, many investors expect even better times ahead.

In our Motley Fool CAPS community, about 92% of the 1,311 investors rating the company are bullish, so there's no shortage of reasons why IMAX will thrive, three of which I've highlighted below.

But here at the Motley Fool, we're always looking at both the good and bad sides of an investment. Once you're done with this article, read the case against the stock, weigh in with your own comments below or rate IMAX yourself in CAPS.

1. Hitting its stride
IMAX has been logging increased revenue in recent quarters and reached a new milestone of record revenue and earnings in its most recent quarter. Revenue growth was 120% year over year, with the big jump in the top line helping it produce a tidy profit after a year ago loss. With the rush to big IMAX screens clearly taking hold in the movie theater industry and with moviegoers, some CAPS members see the momentum continuing.

2. Striking deals
The popularity of IMAX across the entertainment industry is picking up speed. The company recently signed deals with Time Warner's Warner Bros. and Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) for more films and is continuing its international growth with new theatres in Russia, Thailand, and China. And as 3-D TV becomes more available, with providers like DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) launching new 3-D channels, IMAX is teaming up with Discovery Communications (Nasdaq: DISCA) and Sony (NYSE: SNE) in a 3-D TV joint venture.

3. Summer blockbusters
Although Hollywood box office attendance is slightly down from last year, higher ticket prices from IMAX and 3-D films have boosted overall ticket sales. While News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) Avatar and DreamWorks Animation's (NYSE: DWA) How to Train Your Dragon added to IMAX's first-quarter results, sequel hits like Marvel's Iron Man 2 and other summer releases have reassured some investors that consumers' participation in the summer movie season bodes well for continued strength at IMAX.
