Youku Tudou (NYSE: YOKU) plans to kick off a new partnership with Korea's YG Entertainment by being the exclusive China host of the webcast of the April 13 concert of Psy, whose wildly popular Gangnam Style video became the first YouTube video to have more than a billion views. It has more than 1.5 billion views as of today.
During the concert, Psy is expected to debut his first new single since Gangnam Style went viral. The concert will be broadcasted simultaneously on YouTube. Youku Tudou bills itself as "China's leading Internet television company."
Record label YG Entertainment is planning to soon launch its official Youku channel with hundreds of music videos from artists like Psy and boy band Big Bang. YG will update it with new hits from its talent. Other international labels that have partnered with Youku Tudou include Sony, EMI, and Warner Records, all of which have official channels on Youku Music.
