DoorDash is a delivery service that partners with local restaurants, convenience stores, pet stores, grocery stores, and other retail businesses to deliver items to your home or business. It was founded in 2013, working with 70 restaurants in the Bay Area. By 2020, DoorDash had grown exponentially, and was by then responsible for 45% of all food delivery orders. It now operates in 27 countries with more than 20 million consumers placing orders on DoorDash every month. The company first launched its "DashPass" subscription back in 2018.

What is DashPass?

DashPass is a subscription service that offers unlimited deliveries from eligible restaurants with $0 delivery fee on orders over $12. You also have eligible grocery store orders of $25 or more delivered. The cost for DashPass is $9.99 per month or $96 a year (a savings of about $12 with the annual plan).

According to its website, DashPass subscribers save an average of $4-$5 per eligible order and a DashPass membership pays for itself with just two orders per month. It currently offers a free trial for users who have not previously tried the subscription.

What are the perks of DashPass?

The difference between DoorDash and DashPass is that DoorDash is the on-demand delivery service while DashPass is the platform's subscription service. You can use DoorDash without signing up for the subscription. In addition to the free delivery fees, there are other little-known perks of the subscription. Here are other exclusive member benefits that subscribers can enjoy.

DashPass-only promotions

DashPass users also get reduced service fees on top of free delivery. Subscribers receive 10% off via reduced service fees on all eligible orders (restaurant, grocery, convenience stores, and others) that meet the subtotal minimum as shown in the app.

If you pick up eligible orders in-store, then you get 5% back in DoorDash credits and pay none of the service fees. DoorDash also states that DashPass subscribers get access to member-only items and discounts.

Priority customer support

Subscribers get access to priority customer support 24/7. You also have the ability to cancel your subscription in the app or on the website with no hidden or additional fees.

Benefits on both Caviar and Doordash

When you subscribe to DashPass you will be able to redeem the benefits on both Caviar and DoorDash, without the need to subscribe twice. Caviar is a part of DoorDash and is exclusively a food-only delivery company while Doordash is an on-demand delivery service company that offers a wide selection of products for delivery or pick-up.

DashPass for Students

Last April, DoorDash launched DashPass for Students, a membership plan for college students for $4.99 per month. DashPass for Students members get access to unlimited $0 delivery fees on eligible orders and all the other benefits of being a subscriber.
