Why I'm Holding Netflix

People have been asking Motley Fool CEO Tom Gardner one question a lot lately: Why haven't you sold your Motley Fool Stock Advisor shares of Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX  ) ? With the stock up more than eight times since Tom's recommendation -- and more since David Gardner first picked it at Stock Advisor -- one can understand the curiosity of profit-minded investors. But, as Tom explains in this video, there's more to valuing a stock than, well, valuation. He urges investors to take a 360-degree view of the companies they own and to evaluate a firm's leadership, culture, and brand before pulling the trigger to sell.

Tom Gardner does not own shares of Netflix but has recommended the stock -- along with David -- through Motley Fool Stock Advisor. Try any of our Foolish newsletter services free for 30 days. JoshP, not in any rush to sell, no. I think the stock will be above $340 in 5 years -- so that's 15% per year from here. A compelling investment, but not as inspiring as at $20, $40, $60, $80, $120....

But I'm in no rush to sell. Netflix has the leaders, the culture, the brand, the financial performance, and the market opportunity that make me believe in it.

It goes without saying that I believe it inside of a diversified portfolio.

    Tom Gardner
