Continuing its acquisitive streak, Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) has acquired small startup Jybe, the company announced today. The cost of the deal was not announced in the statement.

Jybe is a personalized recommendation company that Yahoo! intends to integrate into its sites. Jybe's app provided recommendations based on what a user's social contacts were interested in. The app is closed as of now.

The deal brings five former Yahoo! engineers back to the company, as the Jybe team joins the search company. They are Arnab Bhattacharjee (who was vice president of Yahoo! Search Technology), Tim Converse, Christian Kunz, Sameer Paranjpye, and Karthik Krishnamurthy

Yahoo! exec Jay Rossiter expressed confidence that Jybe's data-driven and scientific approach will "supercharge" Yahoo!'s offerings.

The news comes about five months after Yahoo! acquired Stamped, another mobile startup that specialized in social recommendations. Stamped was the first acquisition under new CEO Marissa Mayer.
