In its effort to expand its Supercharger network, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA  ) launched its first European Superchargers today. They are operational in the Norwegian cities of Lyngdal, Aurland, Dombås, Gol, Cinderella, and Lillehammer.

Tesla's European Supercharging stations allow Model S owners to charge vehicles to half of their battery capacity in 20 minutes.

Tesla said 90% of the Norway population lives within about 200 miles of a Supercharger station. The company said in a press release that "Model S customers can drive routes such as the E6 from Trondheim to Oslo, the E18 from Oslo to Kristiansand, the E39 from Kristiansand to Stavanger, and Highway7 from Oslo to Gol for free and with minimal stops."

The company sent Model S vehicles toward Oslo this morning from locations in the north, west and south of Norway. It said that during their 500 km journeys, each car charged at two of the new Tesla Supercharger locations.

Batteries need slow and long charge, not these superchargers; it will be interesting to see how many batteries Tesla will need to replace under their 8 year warranty. And in colder climates, what do they guarantee in regards to charge and kilometers driven per full charge, then how many additional kilometers after this 20 minute super charge?

Pure awsomeness!!! This is history in the making! There is no going back. The way we drive no longer needs to pollute our air. I don't know Elon Musk, but this is amazing stuff to live in. I cant wait to visit some of the places I've been to before and re-experience them with a whole bunch of Teslas instead of a whole bunch of tail-pipes and smog! It will be pure joy to tell my children one day that I/we remember living through these moments...

EV is the future, tesla has a lead. This firm will disrupt, and may well become a mega cap stock.

Elon has the competence to make it happen.
