"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Gets Its Chance to Be a Disney Stock Catalyst

Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS  ) did the predictable and ordered a full season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this week. Now the really hard work begins, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

With a full season of episodes to work with, creator Joss Whedon and his team get to play with plotlines and characters that open viewers to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's the good news. The bad? Expectations are riding high. Walt Disney stock investors are expecting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to help build new billion-dollar franchises that stretch across TV, films, and comics.

That won't be easy. Fans can be fickle and the competition -- notably from CBS's hit drama, NCIS -- is fierce. Whedon should be applauded for getting the show this far. Marvel marketing should be applauded, too, for building a groundswell that's led to a strong open in the ratings. They'll need to keep the momentum in order for Agents to grow into a meaningful catalyst for Walt Disney stock.

Well, I've been watching Marvel's 'Agents'. And I am happy to say that I am enjoying it. I don't watch NCIS because I am played out on forensic crime dramas, having watched CSI, CSI Miami, and CSI New York. Also was a long time fan of Law and Order. So, tired of attorneys, tired of doctors. But the strange thing is that its not really

the 'action' that I enjoy the most (although I love the little comic book 'nods'). What I love is the scenery and the cinematography. Its 'filmed' like a movie. And I appreciate that.

Agents sucks so far and is very slow and not much CGI or anything. Fight scenes are not that great either. The Blacklist is the best new show so far from all the channels.

I have be disappointed so far with Agents of SHIELD. It is a good show, but just seems to be lacking something to make it a great show. I am still watching and hoping it gets better. The big deal for this show is that it is killing it in the younger demographics. NCIS might be betting it in the ratings, but shield is winning big in the key demographics that advertisers care about. Also if you have not seen Blacklist it is great. My opinion best new and one of my favorites period.

Great call on The Blacklist. Hulu'd it today. Such a great show. Probably the best of the new show this season. Spader is amazing (as he is in most things). Can't wait for The Avengers: Age of Ultron (Spader again).

Speaking of Spader: Anybody remember that 4th wall breaking episode of Boston Legal where they were talking about how advertisers ignore the older demographic and how Boston Legal is the only show on TV not afraid to have a leading female actress over the age of 60? I miss Boston Legal.
