KEY POINTS

  • The Ninja Creami is a 7-in-1 ice cream and other frozen dessert maker that has recently become an internet sensation, thanks to TikTok.
  • While this device is getting more difficult to find by the day, especially at a reasonable price, I was able to score one for under $25.
  • For a limited time, Amazon will automatically load a $150 Amazon gift card to your account upon approval for the Prime Visa.

The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and summer is finally just right around the corner. What better way to enjoy the warmth and extra daylight hours than with your favorite frozen treat? The Ninja Creami, which is capable of creating seven different kinds of frozen treats, has blown up recently thanks to TikTok users showing off its ease of use and delicious creations. The problem is, the frozen dessert maker's new-found glory has left it sold out on store shelves and in digital catalogs everywhere.

Whether you're looking for the original 7-in-1 Ninja Creami of TikTok notoriety, the Ninja Creami Deluxe, or the newest Ninja Creami Breeze, you're likely looking at inflated product costs and long wait times for delivery. With an original ticket price of $229.99 and an average sale price of about $180.00, the original 7-in-1 Ninja Creami doesn't generally come cheap. But it can.

Here's how I managed to snag one brand new from Amazon for under $25.

Amazon Prime strikes again

As is the case with a lot of consumers these days, I tend to count on Amazon Prime to provide me with items I need (or even just those that I really want) quickly and at a fair price point. I've been using an Amazon credit card for years to pay for my online purchases to reap the rewards of the 5% cash back it provides. While I assumed that my card was the Prime Visa version due to the fact that I'm a Prime member, I hadn't actually pulled the card out and looked at it in quite a long time. So when I was digging in my wallet the other day and noticed that my Amazon card was lacking the Visa logo, a lightbulb went off in my head.

I remembered reading recently that, for a limited time, Amazon will automatically load a $150 Amazon gift card to your account upon approval of the Prime Visa. So I immediately went online to apply for it. You can find the application link through Chase's website, as the Prime Visa is a cobranded card that's part of the Chase credit card lineup, or through your Amazon account.

The online application takes only a minute or two to complete, and my approval was instant. I was greeted with a congratulations screen letting me know my $150 Amazon gift card had been added to my account, along with a quick rundown of my credit limit, purchase APR, and other cardmember perks.

The Prime Visa provides standout perks, especially for consumers who frequently purchase from Amazon. They include:

  • 5% back on Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, and Whole Foods Market orders with an eligible Prime membership
  • 5% back on Chase Travel purchases with an eligible Prime membership
  • 2% back on gas station and restaurant purchases
  • 2% back on local transit and commuting, including rideshares
  • 1% back on all other purchases, anywhere Visa is accepted
  • A variety of travel insurance protections, such as baggage delay insurance and lost luggage reimbursement
  • Various other account protections, including Chase Credit Journey and fraud protection

Time to score a deal

As soon as my Amazon gift card was loaded to my account (which happened instantly), I set off to find the Ninja Creami. Granted, this was a few days ago, and at the time I was able to track one down on Amazon for a sale price of $159.99. After sales tax and my gift card were applied, my out-of-pocket expense came out to a grand total of just $21.99. What a steal!

As I mentioned previously, it seems with each day that passes the Ninja Creami becomes just a bit more elusive. So maybe you won't find quite the deal I did on mine. But even if you lock in that average sale price of $180 (at time of writing, Amazon does still have them for $179.99), you'll still come out $150 ahead of other buyers if you first apply for the Prime Visa and use your Amazon gift card towards the purchase price.

Don't discount the value of a sign-up bonus

So maybe ice cream isn't your thing. Perhaps you've got your eye on a new kayak or patio furniture set instead. Whatever your summer aspiration, a credit card sign-up bonus can likely help you achieve it for a whole lot cheaper. Many of the best credit cards offer a lump sum of cash back or rewards points, (or in Amazon's case, a gift card), just for applying for a card and fulfilling some sort of minimum spend requirement in a set period of time.

For Amazon, the only condition is card approval, and because time was of the essence to fulfill my Ninja Creami dreams, (and let's face it, because the card's other benefits are so stellar), that's the one I went with. But take a look at our list of the best sign-up bonus credit cards and see what's out there, and just maybe you'll walk away with a great deal, too!
