<THE HARRY JONES PORTFOLIO>
by Irv
(April 13, 1999) -- This is the time of year that almost every company announces numbers from the recent time period. As Harry says, the newspaper writes about it every day. Most of the index fund's S&P 500 companies announce earnings around this time, but we only need to look at one number when its available. The total combined earnings of all S&P 500 companies. That makes it much easier to own Intel, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and 497 other companies in the index fund. It's another reason why the index fund is so easy to own.
The S&P fell 0.65% on Tuesday.
