Selective Insurance Group (SIGI -1.54%) has appointed Gordon J. Gaudet as its new chief information officer. The position is responsible for all information technology operations at the organization, which is a holding company for casualty and property insurance businesses.

Gaudet approaches this new position with 35 years of experience. Before his May 8 appointment, Gaudet served for nine years at Deloitte Consulting's Insurance Core System Transformation program, as director and co-lead. He was also on the Systems Integration advisory boards for a number of project management assignments. Gaudet has also served as partner and CIO at The Actuarials Exchange, where he was responsible for all of the company's technology.

Selective CEO Gregory Murphy believes Gaudet to be an excellent candidate for the position because "he brings extensive information technology experience in the insurance industry to Selective, which will further our mission to be the leading 'high-tech, high-touch' provider of property and casualty insurance."
