Amazon.com's (AMZN -1.65%) move to buy Liquavista this week could reshape the educational textbook market. 

Samsung's move to sell its color screen technology to Amazon will open the door for colorful Kindle e-reader displays that don't slurp away at battery life the way that Apple's (AAPL 0.52%) iPad and Amazon's own Kindle Fire tablet do. 

That's huge. Amazon's early attempts to get its e-reader into classrooms fell short given the graphical nature of many textbooks. A color Kindle e-reader -- if the graphics look sharp and the battery life is healthy -- could revolutionize the digital textbook market.
