Is it hard to get approved for Chase Freedom credit cards?

Not especially. The Chase Freedom Rise® card is specifically designed for people building or rebuilding their credit.

Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom Unlimited® are a bit more selective than the Chase Freedom Rise®, but you shouldn't need a sky-high credit score to get approved.

TIP

The 5/24 rule

Chase has a rule called the 5/24 rule. If you've opened five or more credit cards in the last 24 months, they may deny your application. This rule applies to most of their cards, so plan accordingly!

Open a Chase banking account

If you're unsure whether you'll be approved, consider opening a bank account with Chase: Chase notes that applicants for the Chase Freedom Rise® could raise their approval odds by first opening a Chase checking or savings account with a minimum balance of $250. Additionally, anecdotal evidence suggests that existing Chase bank customers may have an edge when applying for Chase cards.
