7 New Amex Platinum Offers for Big Savings in 2021

by Lyle Daly | Feb. 2, 2021

These new Amex Offers could save you hundreds of dollars on your online shopping.

American Express often gives cardholders great deals via Amex Offers, but it may have outdone itself to start 2021. Its new offers with The Platinum Card® from American Express -- worth $1,700 -- last through June 30, 2021.

These offers are available if you've been a cardholder since Nov. 1, 2020 or earlier. You need to enroll in the ones you want, which you can do under the "Amex Offers" section in your online account. Then, you simply use your American Express Platinum Card to make purchases that qualify.

Here are our highlights of the most useful and valuable deals.

1. $100 back with Instacart

How it works: Spend $250 or more with Instacart and get $50 back, up to two times.

Grocery deliveries have skyrocketed in popularity as people aim to shop safely during the COVID-19 outbreak, so this offer is one just about anybody can use. Since there's a $250 minimum, you need to make a large purchase to get the $50 back.

To make it even better, the American Express Platinum Card starts cardholders off with more grocery rewards than you find from just about any other credit cards. You earn 10 points per $1 at U.S. supermarkets and gas stations for the first six months you have the card, up to a $15,000 spending cap across those categories.

Instacart purchases are considered supermarket spending, so you earn 10 points per $1 and get this Amex Offer at the same time.

2. $100 back at BestBuy.com

How it works: Spend $50 or more on BestBuy.com and get $50 back, up to two times.

If you need to pick up any electronics items, this BestBuy.com offer could help you save on orders large and small. Since the spending minimum is just $50, it's not hard to collect that $50 back. Whether you're spending hundreds on a computer for your home office or picking up a new video game for some at-home entertainment, your American Express Platinum Card gets you a discount.

3. $100 back at HomeDepot.com

How it works: Spend $50 or more on HomeDepot.com and get $50 back, up to two times.

Home improvement projects have been popular during the pandemic. After all, if you're spending so much time at home, doing some upgrades is a great way to make yourself more comfortable.

You can save on supplies you need with this offer. It's another deal with a low spending minimum of $50, so if you have Home Depot purchases to make, you shouldn't have any trouble using it. Just remember that the offer only applies at HomeDepot.com.

4. $100 back with The Container Store

How it works: Spend $150 or more with The Container Store and get $50 back, up to two times.

Maybe instead of a serious home improvement project, you just want to get more organized. In that case, The Container Store should have plenty of items you can use to clean up your space. It specializes in storage and organizational supplies -- think shoe racks, drawers, shelf organizers, storage benches, and more.

5. $200 back with Samsung

How it works: Spend $1,000 or more with Samsung and get $200 back.

The biggest cash-back amount is this one with Samsung. Considering the $1,000 spending minimum, it obviously won't be for everyone. But if you were planning to make any big purchases with Samsung, like a new TV or a pre-order for the Galaxy S21, then you should take advantage of the opportunity to save $200.

6. $150 back with Home Chef

How it works: Spend $50 or more with Home Chef and get $50 back, up to three times.

Home Chef is a meal delivery service. You pick what you want; Home Chef ships it; and you follow the recipe to cook your meal. Home Chef claims it delivers to 98% of the United States, so most cardholders should be able to try it out. It has an extensive menu, and you can search for meals to meet dietary restrictions.

The minimum weekly order value with Home Chef is $49.95. Given that you only need to spend $50 to get $50 back, you could get quite a few free meals courtesy of American Express. Keep in mind that this is a subscription service, and you need to cancel your subscription if you decide not to keep using it.

7. $60 back with Wine Insiders

How it works: Spend $30 or more with Wine Insiders and get $30 back, up to two times.

It's free wine. Most of us are still largely stuck at home. Bravo to American Express for a brilliant offer.

As you can see, there are all kinds of ways your American Express Platinum Card can get you money back through the end of June. Make sure to check the Amex Offers section in your online account to enroll in the ones you want.
