Chase credit cards are well known for their great rewards. But many Chase cards also offer some valuable, if less tangible, benefits. One of the most overlooked of those perks is likely the Chase concierge service.

Credit card concierge agents are similar to the concierges in fancy hotels. They can help you book reservations at restaurants or events, locate hard-to-find items, or just answer general questions about the local area.

Credit card concierge services are most commonly offered by premium travel rewards cards. In most cases, it's a feature provided by the credit card network, rather than the issuer. For example, Chase's concierge is actually a service of its network, Visa, not Chase itself.

What does the Chase concierge include?

You may have access to one of two concierge services, based on the tier of your Chase Visa card. Chase credit cards that sport the Visa Infinite logo have access to the Visa Infinite Concierge. Chase cards with the Visa Signature logo can use the Visa Signature Concierge service.

Visa Signature Concierge services

The Visa Signature Concierge can help you with a wide range of requests. This can include -- but isn't limited to -- the following:

  • Booking reservations for restaurants
  • Booking tickets for special events, such as plays, concerts, or sporting events
  • Helping arrange travel, including booking flights and hotel stays
  • Helping you access local services, such as translation or legal services
  • Helping you find and rent special equipment
  • Recommending, ordering, and arranging delivery of special gifts
  • Recommending local attractions or other activities while traveling
  • Providing updates on local COVID-19 restrictions or requirements

Although you can do many of these things yourself, concierge services often have access regular folks lack. For example, we found many stories from cardholders who couldn't get reservations at a popular restaurant until their credit card concierge stepped in.

Keep in mind the concierge agent isn't an account services representative. The concierge can't help you with credit card billing issues, for instance. It also isn't where you'll report lost cards or freeze your credit card account.

Visa Infinite Concierge services

The Visa Infinite Concierge offers all of the same services as the Visa Signature Concierge. This includes making various reservations, arranging gifts, and finding local travel information.

However, Visa Infinite cardholders have access to a wider range of options and potential discounts than their Visa Signature counterparts. This may open more options when requesting a reservation at a popular restaurant or tickets for a particular event.

Additionally, Visa Infinite Concierge service may offer a quicker turnaround. There are far fewer Visa Infinite credit cards than there are Visa Signature cards. So, you may not be competing with quite as many other customers for the time and attention of an agent.

How does Chase concierge work?

The Chase concierge services are offered and operated by Visa, not Chase. As such, you'll need to contact Visa to access them. You can contact Visa by phone or by email. Concierge services are available 24/7 any time of year.

To use the Chase Visa Signature Concierge service, you can call: 1-800-953-7392

To use the Chase Visa Infinite Concierge service, you can call: 1-877-660-0905

To access Visa concierge services online, you'll need to register through the Visa Digital Concierge website.

Once you are in touch with an agent, simply ask your questions. Depending on the nature of your request, the agent may be able to assist you right away. For more complicated requests, the agent may have to follow up by phone or email.

There is no cost to use the concierge service itself. However, anything the concierge purchases on your behalf will be charged to your Chase credit card.

For example, if you use the concierge to purchase and deliver flowers to a friend, the cost of the flowers will be charged to your credit card. But there won't be any extra charges for using the concierge to make the purchase.

Which Chase credit cards have concierge services?

The Visa concierge services are available to most Chase credit cards with either a Visa Infinite or Visa Signature logo. The logo is usually found in the lower right-hand corner of your card. This will mean Chase travel cards for the most part, but other types of credit cards may also offer the benefit.

Chase Visa Infinite cards with concierge access include:

Chase Visa Signature credit cards with concierge service include:

Not sure if your Chase credit card offers concierge services? You can check out your card's benefits through your online Chase account. You can also see your card benefits in the Chase mobile app.

If your Chase card offers access to the Visa concierge services, it will be listed in the benefits section. If you don't see the service listed as a card benefit, then you do not have access to it.

Chase concierge vs. Amex concierge

There are a few notable differences between the Chase and Amex concierge services. For one thing, Amex operates its own concierge service. Chase cards get concierge services provided by Visa.

Both networks have similar concierge services in function -- you can use them to make reservations or book travel, for example. However, who can use the service varies greatly. Specifically, far more Chase cards offer the benefit than Amex cards.

While more than a dozen Chase credit cards offer concierge service access through Visa, Amex's concierge service is a perk of only a small number of premier cards, all of which have high annual fees.

Additionally, the uber-exclusive Amex Centurion Card (aka, the Black Card) has its own dedicated concierge service. Of course, you need an invitation to even apply for this card.

And that's it. If you have any other Amex card -- even the expensive American Express® Gold Card -- you're out of luck for concierge benefits.

This seems like a remarkable oversight on Amex's part. Sure, most of us aren't going to choose a credit card based solely on its concierge service. But it is, nonetheless, a valuable benefit that shouldn't be overlooked.

FAQs

  • Yes, Visa concierge is free to use as long as your credit card is either a Visa Signature or a Visa Infinite card. Not all Visa cards offer concierge services.

  • You might want to call Chase concierge to complete tasks when you lack internet access or are otherwise occupied, such as while flying on a plane. You can use Chase concierge whenever you'd like, however.
