Ability to import

If you're looking to save time and filed last year using TurboTax, H&R Block, or TaxAct software, Cash App Taxes can import last year's 1040 and pull your personal information and adjusted gross income from the prior tax year.

Access to forms and schedules

Cash App Taxes supports major IRS forms and schedules. As long as your tax situation isn't very complex, it's likely the program has what you need.

File on the go

As long as you have the documents you need with you, Cash App makes it easy to file your taxes from wherever you may be, even from your phone.

Whether you're filing a federal or state tax return (or both), Cash App Taxes is 100% free throughout the entire process.

As attractive as free is, be aware that Cash App Taxes doesn't support some of the more complex tax situations, such as:

  • Multiple state filings
  • Part-year state filing
  • Nonresident state filing
  • Foreign earned income
  • Married filing separate returns in community property states

Cash App has a longer list of exclusions, so if you think you have less common tax filing needs, be sure to check those out before you get started.

Cash App Taxes support

Customer support is one area where Cash App Taxes lags and other tax preparation software companies shine. Unlike other companies, Cash App Taxes does not guarantee immediate, on-demand support. Rather, the site prompts you to leave them an email address or phone number to contact if you can't get through to their 800 number. If you're someone who likes to reach out to other users through a help forum, Cash App may leave you disappointed there.

They also list several social media accounts on their contact page and seem to respond to customer questions fairly quickly, especially on Reddit.
