Chase Slate® Review: One of the Longest 0% Intro APR Offers We've Ever Seen

Review Updated
Joel O'Leary
Many or all of the products here are from our partners that compensate us. It’s how we make money. But our editorial integrity ensures that our product ratings are not influenced by compensation.

The new-and-improved Chase Slate® card (see rates and fees) is built for one thing: helping you dodge interest like a pro. We're talking a massive 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers. You'll get almost two years to pay off big expenses or tackle high-interest debt without sweating monthly interest charges.

We've reviewed hundreds of credit cards, and this intro offer is hands-down one of the longest you'll find in 2026. Here's our full, honest review of the Chase Slate® card.

At Motley Fool Money, every credit card we review is rated on a 5-star scale, scored to a tenth of a point. Our ratings weigh the features that matter most: rewards rates, 0% intro APR offers, welcome bonuses, fees, and perks like travel credits and purchase protections.

We score cards within four primary categories:

  • 0% intro APR cards for paying down balances or financing purchases
  • Travel cards for maximizing points, miles, and perks on the road
  • Cash back and rewards cards for everyday spending value
  • Business cards designed to fit company expenses and growth

Top-rated cards typically combine strong long-term value, attainable bonuses, low fees, and standout protections or perks.

We combine these factors with an evaluation of brand reputation and customer satisfaction to ensure you're getting the best credit card recommendations. Our aim is to maintain a balanced best-of list featuring top-scoring credit cards from reputable brands. 'Best for' category selections on this page are determined by our editors, and a single card may be recognized in multiple categories.

What I like about the Chase Slate®

This isn't your average balance transfer card. Chase packed in a few smart perks that make the Chase Slate® card stand out. Here are my favorite features:

A long intro APR

The Chase Slate® card offers 0% Intro APR on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 21 months, then a 18.24% - 28.24% Variable APR applies thereafter.

That's a mammoth window of opportunity to pay no interest on both new and old debt.

Whether you've got old balances to pay off or you're planning a big purchase -- like a new appliance or medical procedure -- this card gives you nearly two years to handle it without interest piling up.

No annual fee

Fees are a pet peeve of mine, so it's nice that this card has no annual fee. It's a small thing, but it means every dollar you pay goes toward reducing your balance, not toward bank fees.

Strong protections

Even without an annual fee, the Chase Slate® packs in decent protections:

  • Zero liability & fraud monitoring -- You won't be held responsible for unauthorized charges, and Chase monitors for suspicious activity 24/7.
  • Purchase protection -- New purchases are covered against damage or theft for 120 days, up to $500 per item.
  • Extended warranty -- Adds 12 months of warranty coverage to eligible purchases with a manufacturer warranty of three years or less.
  • Credit limit increase eligibility -- Chase says you could be considered for a higher credit line in as little as six months.

Free credit tracking

You'll get access to Chase Credit Journey®. So you can track your score, get personalized tips, and even spot early signs of identity theft.

Downsides you should consider

Here are some sticking points I noticed. None of these are deal breakers, but they're worth knowing before you apply.

No rewards program

Chase Slate® isn't designed for earning travel points or cash back. It's built for managing debt, not maximizing rewards.

If you want to rack up points while avoiding interest, check out a card like the Chase Freedom Unlimited®. It has a shorter 0% intro APR period, but strong cash back perks.

Balance transfer fee

It's important to note the balance transfer fee: Either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater.

That's fairly standard across the industry, but it's still something to factor into your math.

Not for international use

The Chase Slate® card charges foreign transaction fees, so it's not a great fit for use overseas. Stick to a no-foreign-transaction-fee card if you've got overseas trips in the mix.

Credit card comparison

We recommend comparing options to ensure the card you're selecting is the best fit for you. To make your search easier, here's a short list of standout credit cards.

Is the Chase Slate® card worth it?

The Chase Slate® is an excellent card for refinancing credit card debt or financing a large new purchase. Its super-long 0% intro APR on both balance transfers and new purchases can save you quite a bit of money.

It's probably the right fit if:

  • You have a payoff plan in place. Balance transfer cards are only as helpful as your follow-through. Chase Slate® gives you time -- but it's up to you to use it wisely.
  • Your existing debt is from non-Chase cards. Chase doesn't allow balance transfers between its own cards, so you'll need to move debt from a different bank.
  • You've got a big purchase coming up. Whether it's a home project, dental procedure, or new laptop, the 0% APR period lets you chip away at the cost without paying a cent of interest.

How to apply for the Chase Slate® card

You can apply directly through Chase's website. You'll need good credit (typically 670+ FICO), and you can check for prequalification with no impact to your score.

Final thoughts

Chase relaunched the Chase Slate® card with a very specific purpose: to help people crush their credit card debt with one of the best 0% intro APR offers available.

If you're looking to save serious money on interest over the next year or two, this card could be exactly what you need. Apply for the Chase Slate® card today.
