KEY POINTS

  • Target recently announced that an updated Target Circle Rewards program will launch on April 7.
  • Shoppers can benefit from additional program benefits like automatic deals applied at checkout and personalized offers.
  • One benefit that will no longer be available to members is 1% cash back earnings.

Many shoppers use loyalty and rewards programs to access exclusive perks, save money, and earn rewards. These programs offer an easy way to get rewarded for everyday spending.

If you shop at Target, you're likely familiar with the Target Circle Rewards program. The top benefits of this program include the ability to earn rewards and save money with in-app deals.

However, this popular rewards program will soon change. Discover what you can expect with the new Target Circle Rewards program, which will launch on April 7.

Deals will be automatically applied to your account

Target Circle Rewards members can access exclusive deals, which, once activated, provide discounts on eligible Target purchases. Soon, shoppers won't have to apply deals to their Target Circle wallets to save money.

Beginning on April 7, eligible deals will automatically be applied at checkout. That means you'll get a discount when you shop without taking time to activate offers that interest you. With this change, you can feel more confident that you're getting the best deal.

Some Target Circle deals will be personalized

Here's another new benefit that members will appreciate. In addition to regular deals available to all shoppers, Target will start presenting members with personalized deals that match their shopping habits. These additional deals can help you save more when you shop.

1% cash back rewards are going away

The current Target Circle Rewards program provides members with 1% cash back rewards. Every time you make an eligible purchase at Target, you earn 1% cash back on your spending.

Your cash back earnings accumulate in your Target Circle wallet, and you can redeem your earnings for a discount on future shopping trips. Target loyalists enjoy this perk because it helps them keep more money in the bank. But this benefit will disappear on April 7.

Here's what will stay the same when the updated Target Circle Rewards program launches: Target cardholders will continue to qualify for a 5% discount on their shopping bills. You'll get a direct discount at checkout when swiping your eligible card.

If you want to take advantage of this discount, you must have or apply for a Target RedCard. Target's branded credit, debit, and reloadable cards are eligible for this discount.

Target is introducing a paid membership

In addition to the free Target Circle Rewards program, the retailer will launch a paid membership, Target Circle 360. Starting on April 7, shoppers can enroll in an annual subscription, which offers free same-day delivery on eligible orders of $35 or more, free two-day shipping on eligible purchases with no order minimums, and extended return benefits.

The membership will cost $99 a year. However, Target cardholders can score a one-year membership for $49 for a limited time. This offer will be available through May 18. Frequent Target shoppers who can benefit from the membership perks may want to consider joining.
