Planning to book a hotel or resort stay? An American Express card could get you a better deal.
American Express has released several new offers on its credit cards to start 2021. Whether you're interested in taking a trip or going on a staycation in your area, its latest hotel and resort specials are worth a look.
There are two types of offers available that get you a complimentary night or a property spending credit you can use during your stay. One offer is with the Fine Hotels + Resorts® program, and it's available to U.S. consumers with The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card®.
The other offer is with The Hotel Collection. It's available to U.S. consumers who have the American Express® Gold Card, the American Express Business Gold Card, or either of American Express Platinum Cards.
Here are all the important details on both programs, their offers, and how to take advantage.
The Fine Hotels + Resorts® program includes over 1,100 properties. Since it's American Express' premier hotel program, it's only available to Platinum and Centurion Card Members.
Over 200 properties in the program are participating in this offer. Each one is offering either a property credit of at least $250 or a complimentary night, but the exact terms vary. For example, there are properties offering credits of $250, $350, and other amounts. At least one property (the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea) is offering a $625 credit.
Complimentary nights also depend on the property. Many locations are offering a complimentary third or fourth night. There are also properties with complimentary fifth or sixth nights, requiring you to book a longer stay to get the deal.
To see what offers are available and book a stay, visit Fine Hotels + Resorts® Special Offers. Required booking and travel dates depend on the property.
The Hotel Collection is American Express' more accessible program, available to Gold, Platinum, and Centurion Card Members.
Participating hotels are offering either a property credit of at least $150 or a complimentary night. Just like the Fine Hotels + Resorts® offer, exact terms depend on the property. Property credit amounts vary, and so do the stay requirements for a complimentary night.
To check out offers and book a stay, go to American Express Luxury Hotel Offers. Note that this page includes offers for both The Hotel Collection and the Fine Hotels + Resorts® programs. In each hotel's offer tile, you'll see the name of the program that the hotel belongs to and whether the offer is available to Gold Card Members.
Once again, required booking and travel dates depend on the property.
One of the reasons American Express cards are popular is all their benefits, and its latest hotel offers are yet another example of that.
What's great about these offers is their versatility. You could use one to get a free night or a big property credit on a stay at a luxury hotel. But there are also less-expensive properties taking part, which means you can still save money, even on a more budget-friendly booking.
If you're interested in these offers, it's a good idea to start looking for a hotel or resort now. Even though the required dates depend on the property, many only offer deals if you book travel by March 31, 2021 for stays through April 30, 2021.
